“The Easy Egg Foo Yung Recipe”
Egg foo yung for times like this
There was a time when came home earlier than I used to,
hungry and tired searching for some food, I quickly find out that there is no
food, and no one to make me some.
Left to fend for myself, with my stomach growling like a
monster, I quickly realize that it’s just a matter of time before my tummy eats itself up.
I need something quick, I need something big, enough to satisfy me but unfortunately, I could get nothing more than some biscuits
and milk that day.
This doesn’t have to be you my friend, because now I have an
easy egg recipe that i can show you that is just right for times like this. It’s got a bite that is
big, for an effort that is small, so
Egg foo yung needs
- 1 big onion, shredded.
- We will be using 2 large sausages as of today
(chicken, beef, lamb, pork anyone), or alternatively you can use any precooked
meat, of your choice.
- 100grms fresh peas, tomatoes, carrots each, you can
also use green onions, Chinese cabbage, mushrooms or bean sprouts, make a combination
of any three.
- 1 tsp soya sauce.
- 4 raw eggs.
- Salt to taste.
Put some finely chopped onions in a frying pan with some sesame
oil or any other cooking oil if it’s not available to you at the time, now
sauté the onions until golden brown, after which add 2 table spoons of finely
chopped garlic, let it fry for a just a few seconds.
Add the veggies now (peas, carrot, tomatoes) and cook on low
heat for approximately 10 minutes.When you think they are done take the frying
pan off the flame and let the veggies cool to room temperature.
Cut the sausages into small discs and fry them, after which
mix them with one tsp. soya sauce and the veggies cooked earlier and let them
cool to room temperature.
Now whip up 4 large eggs in a big bowl and whip them up.
When you think the veggies, meat have cooled down, put them in the whipped eggs
and mix well
Note: we allow the veggies and meat to cool down before
mixing with them with the eggs because we don’t want the high temperature of
the veggies to cook the eggs beforehand.
some oil in a frying pan, and spread the egg, veggies, meat mixture evenly in
the pan.Now close the lid and let it cook over low flame for approx. 10 min.
Now flip the egg foo yung very carefully, as this is quiet a heavy omelette.Then let it cook for another 5 min.
A little more patients my friend, before you serve it or eat
it yourself, just cut egg foo yung into pizza like slices.
Enjoy this delicious tummy filling egg foo young with some
buttered buns and mayonnaise or by them selves
