“Easy To Make Egg Pitika Recipe, With All Simple Ingredients”
Egg pitika is an Assamese -Indian dish where “pitika” simple
means mashed. This “egg, potato” mash is a native dish for the Assamese,
Bengali people who love having it with warm boiled rice and yellow daal
Simple yet savoring
Making this egg dish is also very easy, just mash
boiled eggs, potatoes and a few other things together lubricate them with some
mustard oil and there we have it, rich egg pitika (explained in simple steps
below). The wonderful thing about these simple ingredients, are that each one
of them bring a distinct flavor to this recipe, making it simple yet savoring.
Ideal for a hasty situation
Egg pitika is perfect when there is no time for you to cook,
or when you don’t feel like cooking after a hard day, because this simple
recipe hardly needs any cooking time at all, and can be made easily in about 15min. so
the next time you think about ordering food from outside give this easy egg dish a try, I am sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Getting the raw ingredients ready
To boil potatoes
Put 3 medium size potatoes in pressure cooker and fill it
with water enough to submerge half the height of potatoes
Now place the cooker on medium heat and after 3 whistles
remove it from fire .let it cool off for at least 10 min before you take out
the potatoes to peel them.
To boil eggs
If you struggle boiling or peeling eggs learn how to get perfect hard boiled eggs every time, if
you know your way around boiling eggs then jump right into the recipe , just
make sure you use old egg, (ones closer to expiration), otherwise peeling them
later could became a challenge.
Ingredients to serve three
- 6 eggs
- 3 medium size potatoes
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1 table spoon coriander leaves,
- 1 tablespoon teaspoon mustard oil
- 1 large green chili, finely chopped
- Salt to taste
Mash the potatoes and eggs separately, just make sure you
don’t mash the potatoes too fine.
Now mix the potatoes, eggs and all the other ingredients together,
and also add salt to your taste. You may use your hand for better control.
Now warm the 2 teaspoons mustard oil and pour it over the
mixture while blending it with your hand
Note: you may add more depending on your tolerance to mustard
After you feel that the oil has blended well with the
mixture, take it out in a large bowl and serve it warm.
This egg pitika dish is best served with plain boiled rice
and a bowl of yellow daal (Lentils).
There can be two variations to this recipe one is without
potatoes and the other one without the eggs.
