Do you love a hot, crummy bite out of freshly baked cake? But often depend on your mom or a friend to make you one. If yes, then it’s high time you learn to bake your own and this easy egg cake recipe is the best places for you to start.Ok, so first let me tell you that it does not take years of experience to bake and honest cake. All you need is just a proper set of instructions. I received mine from mom when I baked for the first time and today I will hand it over to you. But don’t worry cause it’s not more than a few simple steps.We’ll starts off by mixing sugar and butter together, then we’ll incorporate some eggs into it and finally add some flour to make a very thick batter. This we will pour into a baking tray and bake it in an oven for a while and bingo! we get delicious egg cake. To see my recipe with all the steps just scroll below.
How I like mine
I like to put a handful of peanuts, and chopped chocolate (or chocolate chips) to give my simple sponge cake a little extra something, but you don’t necessarily have to put these. It tastes just fine even without them.
But what I really like is to have my egg cake while still warm, preferably right out of the oven. That ways I get a chance to enjoy the warm crummy texture of this freshly baked goodie. Also another good reason to have it fresh is that chocolate chips are molten and peanuts give away a freshly roasted feel, just the way I like it.
Things you’ll need
- 250 g of all-purpose flour.
- Six raw eggs.
- A cup of granulated white sugar.
- 200 g of margarine or butter.
- Handful of chocolate chips and crushed peanuts (optional).
- Vanilla essence.
MethodWe’ll start off with mixing sugar and butter together. You can use a whisk or if you’re more comfortable with your hands then just pound it with them. Just make sure that the sugar and butter has mix well and there are no lumps left.
Now add an egg at a time into this (sugar, butter mix) while whisking it all the time.
After we have incorporated all the eggs, we’ll start adding flour, a tablespoon at a time while mixing it all along.Note: it’s important to keep mixing all the time otherwise lumps will begin to form in the batter resulting in an uneven texture at the end.
Now after incorporating all the flour, sprinkle the peanuts and chocolate chips over the batter and mix it well.
Now it’s time to prepare a baking tray. For that, take a baking tray and grease it with some cooking oil. After which, sprinkle some all-purpose flour in it and pour out the excess.Note: We grease our baking tray with oil and flour, so that’s its easy for us to take out the cake out of the mould when it’s baked and ready.
Now pour the batter we had prepared above into the baking tray and set it into a preheated oven of 150°C.
Work is almost done, just let this bake for about 40 min or so before you poke it with a stick to see if it comes out clean. If it does then it’s ready but if it doesn’t then allow it to bake some more.
That’s it! just take it out of the oven when it’s ready. And
allow it to cool off before you try to extract it from the mould. Enjoy it warm
and fresh or store it to have it later.
