CHICKEN MAKHANI with a twist


You would obviously have heard about Dal Makhni. It is a recipe majorly served in North India. Applying a twist in the traditional recipe, we are presenting you a superb new recipe that you will surely want to try. Chicken makhani is cooked in makhan (butter) to have the best taste of chicken. Makhan used should be fresh and pure to have best outcome. You can use white butter or amul butter purchased from market.


Cooking Time- 45-55 minutes

Marination time- 3-4 hours

Recipe Servings- 4-5


For Marination

  • 800 gms Chicken
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp Red chilli powder
  • 6 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Mustard oil
  • ½ Garam Masala
  • 1 Cup yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Red chilli powder
  • Salt
  • 2 tbsp Ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp Garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice

For Gravy

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp green chillies
  • ½ tbsp kasthuri methi
  • 1 cup cream
  • 400 gms tomato puree
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp honey

METHOD of Chicken Makhni Recipe:

  • Clean the chicken.
  • Prepare a mixture of garam masala powder, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, oil and red chilli powder.
  • Now add yogurt to this mixture and mix it well.
  • Apply this marinade to the chicken and keep aside for 3-4 hours.
  • Roast the chicken on electric tandoor or grill for 10 minutes.
  • Take a pan and heat oil in it. Add ginger garlic paste, garam masala, green chillies to it.
  • Now add red chilli powder, tomato puree, salt and 1 cup water and cook for 10minutes.
  • Mix honey and kasthoori methi .
  • Now add the roasted chicken pieces and heat at medium flame for 5 minutes.
